Johnny America began as a website where my friend Emily Lawton and I posted nonsense to amuse each other then found ourselves accidental Editors when strangers started sending submissions. It became an unreasonably well-made print zine around the time we invited our friend Patrick Giroux to join in the fun, and has since spawned a parent company: Moon Rabbit Books & Ephemera, a small press that’s published three books, eleven issues of the zine, and assorted one-offs. Day to day, I run the website and wrangle my fellow Moon Rabbits.
I’ve published dozens of stories at Johnny America, though as one of its editors I can’t claim the acceptances were hard-won. Representative pieces include:
